Article on Indian Navy Day.

On 4th December every year, the Indian Navy commemorates the commencement of Operation Trident against Pakistan during the Indo- Pak war. The Indian Navy organized the night strike on December 4 -5 1971, this day is mainly observed to acknowledge and appreciate the Indian Navy's achievements and involvement in the country.
The Chief of the Naval Staff directs the Indian Navy Operations and administrative management from the Ministry of Defense's headquarters it is the maritime arm of the Indian Armed Forces.
The "Father of the Indian Navy", Maratha monarch Chhatrapati Shivaji Bhosle, is the creator of the country's naval force, the week leading up to Navy Day is marked with photo exhibitions, blood donation camps and opening up of warships to visitors.
The Indian Navy contributes significantly to securing the country's maritime borders and advancing India's International relations through a variety of activities such as patriotic missions, disaster relief and many more activities.
In the year 1944, Royal Navy Day was first celebrated on 21st October, this celebration helped in brining the concept of celebrating navy day. It observed to boost outreach and raise awareness about the naval forces and their achievements over the years among civilians.
As a part of the Navy Day Mumbai has been witnessing celebrations, including several shows and performances, Indian Navy personnel perform during the Beating Retreat and Tattoo Ceremony as a part of the Navy week celebrations. President Draupadi Murmu has joined the celebrations as the 'guest of honor'.
