Wishing all the girls out there a Very Happy Girl Child Day !!
Every year the National Girl Child day is celebrated to eliminate all the inequalities against girls and also this day aims at promoting the education of a girl child.
The day was first observed in 2008 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Government of India, the day promotes awareness among the Indian parents about the rights of a girl child our society is bewildered by the gender - based discrimination son is given more preference than daughters.
This day plays a significant role as it is based on the empowerment of girls various ministries and multiple organizations organize various events to empower girls for their betterment.
My question to the readers of this article is that as a female or a girl what do you feel? Can India change the way or perspective the way it sees a girl or is there any fault in our values? Why every time a boy is considered important? do let me know your views in the comment section I am looking forward towards the agents of change.
So many things can be done to stop female infanticide, rape against female, sexual abuse, women should be educated schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is introduced but half of the money is wasted on advertising this scheme.
Directives of the National Girl Child Day -
1. Celebrate the birth of a girl child in the family and community.
2. Take pride in daughters and oppose the mentality of 'Bojh' and 'Paraya Dhan'.
3. Find ways to promote equality between boys and girls.
4. Engage men and boys to challenge the gender stereotypes and roles.
5. Educate and sensitize sons to respect women and girls as equal members of the society.
6. Strive to make the neighborhood safe and violence free for women and girls.
7. Oppose dowry and child marriage within the community and the family.
8. Mind his language and be sensitive to women and girls.
Till today, in many parts of the country being a modern era child marriages, violence against women, dowry, female infanticide, gender- based discrimination are carried out still there is no change in this patriarchal society many people have the question in their mind that "why should we change the current scenario there is no need to educate a girl child child lets spend our money on educating our boy because he will be there with us in our old age."
If things don't change then how can we expect things to be normal again? our newspapers are filled with news of crime against women then we complain openly that what the media is showing us and our social media is also filled with such news because the change begins at home.
We always keep certain parameter for a girl child and not for a boy again the same question why? this a never ending debate many films will come and go teaching us how to maintain gender equality how to respect girls but the truth is the society can never implement it they will never change their view about a daughter. Things are changing but till what time period can you expect them to be the same??
Still there are many women around the world who are breaking the chain of patriarchy-
1. Avani Lekhara.
2. Falguni Nayar.
3. Harnaaz Sandhu.
4. Mirabai Chanu.
5. PV Sindhu.
6. Neena Gupta.
7. Krithi Karanth.
8. Tulasi Gowda.
9. Shaili Singh.
10. Bhawana Kanth.
11. Leena Nair.
12. Gita Gopinath.
Give me the freedom to live,
I also have the right to pursue education;
Don't give me pain,
If you worship the goddess then you should know to worship me;
I have every right to live my life with dignity and no one can steal it from me,
I maybe silent but there is a lot of anger inside me give me justice;
I was born for a reason not to be called as a burden,
Don't play with my respect its not a toy;
I want to live with my independent choices I don't want to satisfy this society and I am not a puppet that I will dance on your fingers.
