NATIONAL FLAG DAY SPECIAL BLOG !!!

The Flag Adoption Day is celebrated for the adoption of the Tricolor Flag on July 22 , 1947 . On January 26 , 2002 , flag code was modified to allow citizens of India to hoist the Indian National Flag over their residences , offices , and factories on any day .
By the law , the tricolor flag is to be made up of khadi a special type of hand - spun cloth or silk , made popular by Mahatma Gandhi himself .
The processing and manufacturing of flag are as per the specifications laid down by the Bureau of Indian Standards , the right to manufacture the flag is taken care by Khadi Development and Village Commission allocated to regional groups .
Usage of the Tricolor flag is governed by the Flag Code Of India and other laws relating to the national emblems .
As per the Flag code of India , the Indian flag has a width :height aspect ratio of 3:2 . All three horizontal bands of the flag ( saffron , white and green) are equally sized the Ashoka Chakra has twenty - four evenly spaced spokes .
" It will be necessary for us Indians Muslims , Christians Jews , Parsis , and all others to whom India is there home to - recognize a common flag to live and to die for '' Mahatma Gandhi .
Changes in the National Flag :
The first National Flag was said to have been hoisted on 7th August , 1906 , in the Parsee Bagan Square ( Green Park) in Kolkata . The Flag was composed of three horizontal stripes of red , yellow and green .
The second National Flag was hoisted in Paris by Madame Cama and her band of exiled revolutionaries in 1907 . This was similar to the first flag except that the top strip had one lotus but seven stars denoting the Saptarishi this flag was also exhibited at a socialist conference in Berlin .
The third National Flag went up in 1917 when our political struggle had taken a definite turn , Dr. Annie Beasant and Lokmanya Tilak hoisted it during the Home Rule Movement this flag had five red and four green horizontal strips arranged alternatively with seven stars in the Sapatarishi configuration super imposed on them . On the left hand top corner ( the pole end ) was the Union Jack ,there was also a white crescent and star in one corner .
During the session of the All India Congress Committee which met at Bezwada in 1921 ( now Vijay Wada ) an Andhra Youth prepared a Flag and took it to Gandhiji . It was made up of two colors red and green representing two major communities Hindus and Muslims further Gandhiji suggested addition of a white strip to represent the remaining communities of India and a spinning wheel to symbolize progress of the nation .
In the year 1931 a resolution was passed adopting a tricolor flag as our National Flag , this Flag was the forbear of the present one was saffron , white and green with Mahatma Gandhi's spinning wheel at the center .
On July 22 , 1947 , the Constituent Assembly adopted it as Free India National Flag . After the advent of Independence , the colors and significance remained the same . Only the Dharma Chakra of the Ashoka was adopted in place of the spinning wheel as the emblem of the Flag .
