Vasant Panchami is widely regarded as Saraswati Puja , this festival is celebrated in the arrival of spring . Different people residing in different parts of the country celebrate it in a unique way depending entirely on their lifestyle . In southern states it is also known as "Sri Panchami" .

For Hindus this festival is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati who is the goddess of knowledge , language , music and various arts . It is said that this festival is auspicious for students .
Secondly , this particular festival also celebrates the arrival of yellow flowers of mustard crops and this is also associated as Goddess Saraswati's favorite color .
Mostly on this day people in India wear yellow clothes and pray to Goddess Saraswati to give them knowledge and wisdom they also offer carrots and sweets to the Goddess , thus this festival is very important to the Hindus .
