Mahatma Gandhi is popularly known by us for his ideologies, philosophies, and Bappu's endless determination which has enlightened us at every step.
He was popularly known as Bappu and also Father of the Nation, Gandhiji played a prominent role in India's freedom struggle Bappu's method of non-violence encouraged several civil rights movements across the Nation.
Amidst the pandemic the entire country will be celebrating the 152nd birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi along with India, the United Nations observes Gandhi Jayanti as 'International Day of Non- Violence'.
In many parts of the country, Gandhiji's path-breaking values and ethics of ahimsa and swaraj are recognized by several institutions.
Early Life of Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi -
Bappu was born on 2nd October, 1869 in Porbandar Gujrat while Bappu was growing up he always expressed his feelings and desires regarding patriotism and seeing India as one united Nation. When Mahatma Gandhi, went to South Africa for higher studies, he saw discrimination against Indians by the colonial rulers, he decided to resist discrimination by adopting the path of non- violence.
For Gandhiji, non- violence was the very breath of his life, he was a staunch critic of western civilization based on technology he wanted to preserve his country from the curse of commercialization, the horror of machine exploitation and production, the slavery of the wage labor, the black systems of a capitalist life.
Mahatma Gandhi always favored small and cottage industries including Khadi his main intention was to provide employment to all and thereby solve the problem of unemployment and poverty.
American civil rights activist Martin Luther Jr espoused the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi at the age of 13 he was married to Kasturba they had four sons namely Harilal, Manilal, Ramdas and Devdas.
In May, 1893, when Bappu went to South Africa to work as a lawyer, there he was thrown out of the first class apartment train there he expiernced for the first time racial discrimination as the seat was reserved for white people or no Indian or black was allowed to travel in first class this had a serious impact on him and he decided to protest against racial discrimination he further observed that this type of incident was very common and his fellow Indians were referred as coolies.
On May 22nd , 1984,Mahatma Gandhi established the Natal Indian Congress (NIC) and he worked there to improve the rights of Indians in South Africa in a short period of time, Gandhiji became the leader of the Indian community in South Africa. Tirukkural ancient literature , originally written in Tamil and later it was translated in different languages Gandhiji was inspired by this book personally.
He returned to India in 1915, after spending 21 years of his life in South Africa there he fought for civil rights and at this time he was transformed into a new person, and after returning to India he joined the Indian National Congress with Gopal Krishna Gokhale as his mentor.
Gandhiji's first achievement was in 1918, when he led the Champaran and Kheda agitations of Bihar and Gujrat, he also led the Non- Cooperation Movement, Dandi March, Civil Disobedience Movement, Swaraj, and Quit India movement against the British Government.
For Gandhiji, religion and mortality constituted his whole life he laid stress on truth and non- violence and expected the Congress to be instrumental for the moral regeneration of the country.
